2024 has been a monumental year for Mobile Heartbeat, and we’re excited to share the incredible milestones we’ve achieved! From the successful deployment of our cloud-native, clinical communication & collaboration (CC&C) platform, Banyan®, to the launch of exciting new features, we’ve been busy delivering powerful solutions that tackle the real-world challenges faced by healthcare organizations today. With key deployments at leading health systems like Sentara Health and ECU Health, as well as integrations with cutting-edge technologies like Microsoft Teams® and AI-driven chatbots, 2024 has been a year of innovation, impact, and progress. Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished—and what’s coming next!
The Modular Approach of Banyan
Banyan is now a comprehensive CC&C solution, built with a modular architecture that allows healthcare organizations to customize the platform based on their unique needs and goals. Whether a hospital is seeking a simple voice and directory tool to complement their EHR or a comprehensive CC&C platform, Banyan offers a flexible solution to address both operational and clinical challenges, ensuring it meets the specific requirements of each organization.
Our Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Annabaker Garber, RN, PhD, shared, “Health systems today face numerous challenges—staff shortages, patient safety concerns, and lack of interoperability between systems, which increases cognitive burden. Our modular approach offers customers flexible solutions, from simpler operational workflows to advanced, integrated systems that meet the needs of both care teams and those who support them.”
Successful Deployments in 2024
In 2024, we’ve been thrilled to see Banyan make a real impact across several health systems in the U.S. Notably, ECU Health and Mary Greeley Medical Center (Mary Greeley) have adopted Banyan, each using its capabilities in unique ways to enhance communication and streamline workflows.
At ECU Health, where as a directory and voice complement to its EHR solution, the platform provides one-tap calling to any member of the care team – enabling seamless communication across the enterprise.
Meanwhile, Mary Greeley has embraced the full suite of Banyan’s CC&C functionality. By integrating various systems, Banyan has enabled seamless communication between clinical and non-clinical staff, improving workflows and enhancing patient care.
Additionally, Sentara Health successfully implemented MH-CURE®, our flagship clinical communication solution. Through real-time messaging, secure voice, and integrations with other clinical systems, MH-CURE has streamlined clinical communication and care coordination across Sentara’s network resulting in: reduced time spent searching for colleagues and information, fewer steps per shift, and improved real-time collaboration.
These successes highlight our commitment to providing scalable, interoperable solutions that address the unique challenges of healthcare organizations, regardless of size. We’re excited to continue expanding our reach and making a lasting impact on healthcare delivery.
A Glimpse into Banyan’s Future Innovations
Looking ahead to 2025, we have big plans to further enhance Banyan with several exciting innovations outside of traditional CC&C functionality. One of the most anticipated updates is the integration with Microsoft Teams, allowing non-clinical staff to leverage existing technology investments without compromising communication with clinicians. This integration will help bridge the gap between teams, fostering a more connected and efficient work environment.
We’re also excited to introduce AI-driven chatbots to Banyan. These intelligent bots aim to automate routine tasks, such as submitting support tickets through our ServiceNow® integration. By reducing administrative burdens, staff can dedicate more time to patient care, enhancing the overall patient experience.
Lastly, Banyan will feature RTLS (Real-Time Location Services) functionality, which will enable healthcare organizations to track and manage mobile devices more effectively. This will help reduce the costs of having to replace missing devices, minimize administrative tasks, and enable caregivers to focus more on delivering high-quality patient care.
Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
As we continue to expand the Banyan platform in 2025, we’re excited to onboard more healthcare organizations and roll out additional features that will enhance communication and care delivery. As health systems navigate modern complexities, Banyan will be there to support clinicians, staff, and administrators with the tools they need to succeed.
